Starting from the area where I live and I know better, I'm trying to make a little trip in the tradition, culture, history and current society of the "Bel Paese".
Marche is one of several regions of Italy rich in cultural heritage:
500 squares
1000 of most significant monuments
37 forts
106 castles,
15 fortresses
170 towers
a lot of churches of which 200 Romanesque
96 abbeys
183 shrines
72 historical theaters all restored and in operation.
This part of the italian land present the highest density of museums and art galleries,
315 libraries also hold volumes of ancient tradition (such as that of Leopardi-Recanati).
(see http://portale.regione.marche.it)
However, we can not begin to speak of Italy, especially about Marche, without going back in time and recall the Papal States and soon you'll understanding why.
Pesaro-Urbino:
even today we find centers that recall the times of the papal state and Renaissance times.
Di Medici, Pazzi, Montefeltro, protagonists not only on the politic scene but also for their contribution to science, culture and .... Banks & Finance!
